Indiana Inmate Search

Before finding an inmate, you need to know where the inmate is incarcerated, in state prisons or in county jails.

The state prisons are operated by the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC), which hold persons who have been convicted of more serious crimes and who are serving longer sentences. The county jails are run at the county level by the local law enforcement agencies, which house persons with short-term sentences or detainees awaiting trial. State prisons and county jails are separate entities.
